Hey BEAUTIES!

Save your edges!

Let me tell you something about your edges… They have zero loyalty to you… They’re the first to leave you in questionable times…. The FIRST!

But here’s how you can bring them back:

  • If you have low density & fine hair… Stay AWAY from those edge brushes! They... Were... Not... Made for you. I should know… I have low density fine hair along my edges and I don’t/can’t use them. Let me tell you what I use instead… And, this is going to sound ridiculous, but trust me it works… A BABY BRUSH! I’ve been using this on my edges for years. It can’t get any gentler than this. TRY IT!
  • How are you going to achieve improvements.. if you’re still doing the same hairstyles that caused the problem in the first place? STOP IT! Stop it now, before your edges permanently disappear, because that can happen… You know that right?
  • Use an effective hair growth serum/oil… and of course I’m going to recommend GREEN GODDESS… Because it's an amazing product! It's formulated with a base oil blend of; cold pressed virgin Coconut oil, Castor oil and Cannabis oil… Fortified with a very potent concoction of essential oils, that includes: Rosemary, Lavender & Peppermint oil.

HAPPY edges, HAPPY life!

Is that hairstyle really a Protective style…or is it crippling your hair growth?

Let’s talk about it…

What really defines a protective style? According to Wikipedia… “A Protective Hairstyle is a hairstyle that keeps the hair tucked away, for minimum manipulation from the weather.” Now, I would personally say… A Protective hairstyle is one in which your hair is not only tucked away from the elements and from manipulation…but one that also imparts low to no tension on your scalp. As it makes absolutely no sense to strive to protect the length that’s already grown out, whilst destroying the foundation…healthy hair needs a healthy scalp.

As such… Not all hairstyles that are deemed ‘protective’ are in fact protecting. And… Not all protective styles will work for your specific hair type.

So, how do you then go about selecting the right protective hairstyles for you? Here’s what you’ll need to consider:

  • Your hair density & thickness. I can’t emphasize enough; how important this is. If you have low density & fine hair… Stay away from box braids, faux locks & sew-ins. These styles WILL pull out your hair! Instead, opt for styles that will be gentler on your roots; like: twists, knot-less braids (and I’m not talking about knot-less braids where there are five strands of your hair carrying half of the pack of extension hair. NO. The extension must make sense for thickness of your hair), crochets or full wigs.
  • Your lifestyle. You’ll have to maintain the health of your hair while it’s in the style. So, choose a style where it’s easy for you to do so. If you’ll be working out twice per day, maybe a lace front wig is not the best option.
  • Your budget. Do not do a style so expensive, you must keep it in for half of the year, just so you can get your money’s worth. Choose a hairstyle you can afford to remove at the end of the month, to properly wash, detangle and deep condition your hair.

Happy hair growing BEAUTIES!
